Today’s show is filled with poems that describe the season and in the end with one German family’s Christmas spent under palm trees at the south-most point of the US. German-Canadian poet Franz ( frah-ns) Pryzbilski ( shee-bill-skee) sent Susanne Nielsen his new book on the four seasons published in Canada in 1997. He would be her guest in radio shows and his poems are perfect for the winter and Christmas season.
Susanne also spoke with Brigadier General Fuerst (First) who was the commander of the German contingent to CENTCOM at McDill AFB ion Tampa, FL and his Chrstmas in Florida plans.

Heute lese ich aus dem Gedichtsband von Franz Pryzbilski vor, moechte Ihnen durch diesen kleinen Einblick seiner Gedichte diesen Deutsch-Kanadier vorstellen. Best Man ist Film voller Herz und Schmerz, sexy Maennern und schoenen Frauen, eine Familien und Freundesgeschichte, mit goldigen Kindern, die die Erwachsenen immer daran erinnern, dass man positiv in die Zukunft schauen muss, auch wenn Mama ihre Sache nicht besonders gut macht, der erfolgreiche Autor am Miserfolg seines zweiten Buches und den Kosten fuer das nun endlich zu erwartende Kind verzweifelt, und der erfolgreichste von allen, Footballstar, sich von den Freunden entfernt hat, und dessen Frau aus ganz persoenlichen Gruenden alles ueber die Weihnachtstage zusammenkitten moechte. Die Grundidee funktioniert immernoch bestens.
Die Buecherdiebin (The Book Thief) bringt eine sehr nahegehende Geschichte, und wunderbare Figuren auf die Leinwand, gedreht in Babelsberg, und mit vielen deutschen Schauspielern, die Hauptfiguren ausgenommen, und deren Akzente fuer deutsche Ohren etwas fragwuerdig, man vergibt Geoffrey Rush und Emma Watson und den Kindern dies, sind doch ihre Leistungen wunderbar.

The Hunger Games ist erklaerter Publikumsliebling und dessen Stars werden von Boesewicht Donals Sutherland bis zu Phillip Seymour Hoffmann, der den Spielleiter mit dem noetigen undurchsichtigen Gesicht spielt, und unseren jungen Helden Peeta und seiner starken Partnerin, in einer Welt der Rebellion die Weltgeschichte vor unseren Weltkriegen des 20 Jahrhunderts grausam und ins futuristische versetzt vor Augen fuehrt.
Nur der Film Das Schlangenei versetzt uns in aehnliche Angst, hier ist die auf der grossen Leinwand weit interessanter als in Teil 1 dieser Buch und nun Filmserie realisiert.
Fuer Disneyfans, ein absolut schoener neuer Film, Frozen, wo es im kalten Norwegen mit einer schoenen Prinzessin, einem guten und boesen Helden, die um ihre Hand und die eigene Macht kaempfen und ein goldiges Renntier, das sicherlich unter jedem Weihnachtsbaum sitzen wird, geht, ist jetzt Hochsaison. The Florida Orchestra Announces Limited On-Stage Seating at Select Masterworks Concerts Kicking Off at Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on Nov. 8, 9 & 10
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – October 22, 2013 – The Florida Orchestra (TFO) has announced that it will offer limited on-stage seating at ten of this season’s Tampa Bay Times Masterworks concerts starting with Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on November 8, 9 and 10 in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Priced at $75 for on-stage seating, the number of concertgoers that can be accommodated at each performance ranges from three to ten, depending on the music being presented, as each piece requires different numbers of musicians and specific orchestra configurations on stage.
TFO Chairman Tom Farquhar said, “We are continually exploring ways to reach out to the community, make the orchestra more accessible and enhance that experience for concertgoers. We hope this new initiative will provide an opportunity for more adventuresome music lovers to see and hear a concert from our musicians’ unique perspective. The on-stage seating option will also give people a glimpse into the backstage area of what goes on just prior to a concert as well as some of the preparations musicians are making just before going on stage to perform.”
