Kulturspiegel, September 29, 2013: Anniversary GACC: German American Chamber Southeast USA

                                                 

This week’s show takes us to the one year anniversary of the German American Chamber of Commerce , celebrated this past week at the MOSI, the museum of science and Industry in Tampa. With hopes to double its membership a wonderful line-up of speakers , guests of the organization that included business and statesmen and women spoke on behalf of joint business in Florida of Germans and Americans. Please also see all our Oktoberfest information and a preview to the cultural offerings in Tampa Bay especially, opera next week, the Florida orchestra in two weeks, with many interesting interviews ahead. New films are also noteworthy. And great actors and singers have left us for good.

             The Cultural Center for German Language invites you to its 2013 programs.

The Cultural Center offers monthly programs to its members, organizes events and group excursions to cultural venues such as museums, theaters with exhibitions, opera, music often paired with optional visits to European restaurants all in the spirit of sharing German, and German speaking heritage in a variety of cultural settings.

Shared events with other German-American organizations like the German American Society Pinellas, the German American Social Club of New Port Richey, the German American Society of Florida and the Richard Wagner Society and events from opera, classical concerts to the celebration of German folk culture and traditions during Mayfests, German Heritage fests and Oktoberfests may be found in the Cultural Center’s program.

This is a show segment in English as the GACC speeches and business is conducted in this language. You will hear the anniversary of GACC in this show.

As first speaker, introduced by Honorary Consul Norma Henning, Bryan Kemp of Bauer Company began a line-up of many distinguished speakers. The Bauer Company has donated business offices to GACC Florida Chapter.

Norma Henning then introduced Martina Stellmaszek President and CEO of GACC South,  the German American Chamber of the Southern US, from Atlanta.

 Norma Henning continues the program. She introduces Science Councilor Andrea Noske of the German Embassy in Washington DC, who gave a workshop on dual system of education, and the initiator of the skills initiative working with German companies and cooperation with workforce initiatives to bring back jobs to the US.
Honorary Consul General then introduces new Consul General of Germany to Miami who attended the event with his wife. Then Ms. Henning welcomed Sandra Campbell representing Frank Sanchez, the Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade. After this State of Florida ‘s Enterprise Florida  senior VP Joe Martinez spoke to all guests. Finally County commissioner for Pasco County Catherine Starkey spoke of the tri-county effort to learn about the dual education system by taking a trip to Germany and learning first hand of this system of combined education with work experience present in training in Germany.

Bei Rush waeren wir zwar nahe des Todes, aber wie jemand mal gesagt hat, diese zwei ganz grossen Rennfahr-Rivalen, einer ein britischer Playboy, der andere ein humorloser Oesterreicher, von Daniel Bruehl bestens bi shin zum Akzent gespielten Niki Lauda gespielt. Schnelle Formel Eins Autos, aber die nie den beiden Maennern die schau st6ehelen. Ein grosser Unfall mit schweren Folgen, die Lauda gerade durch seinen Ehrgeiz, den Rivalen zu bezwingen, ueberstand und ueberwand, ein Film , der einen mitreisst. Die deutschen Szenen sind nicht synchronisiert, und die deutsche Schauspielerin Alexandra maria Lara schaut true und etwas verschreckt in den vielen Szenen, grosse Charakterentfaltung, was sie bestens kann,  blieb ihr versagt, aber einem internationalen Publikum mag sie auffallen.  
Unter den Filmen gibt es einen erstaunlich unterhaltsamen Film der Gruppe Metalica, und eine um so unergiebigere Moechtegern Kommoedie , die seicht und unwahrscheinlich die Suche einer all black cast fuer einen Ehemann auf die schnelle zeigt, einfach Zeitverschwendung, beides, danach den letzten Film des Schauspielers James Gandolfini , wo e s auch um Gewicht und Gesundheitsgefahr geht, obwohl e seine schonen Lebensnahe Liebesgeschichte ist, dieses Enough Said. Genug sol les sein, aber da haben wir Dieter Pfaff, auch er recht korpulent. Starb auch in diesem Jahr.
Otto Sander, der mit dem traurigen Blick ist auch nicht mehr, Marcel Reich Ranitzki kann nicht mehr straiten, als Literaturkritiker war er unermuedlich. Und gebt dem Mann am Klavier maln Bier war das Motto von Paulchen Kuhn.
Die neue Saison der St. Pete Opera beginnt naechste Woche, drei Auffuehrungen von Romeo und Juliet im Palladium Theater in St. Petersberg, und dann kommt Beethovens Neunte in alle drei Hallen der Bucht . In ein paar Wochen freuen Sie sich auch auf eine Kuba Kollaboration mit Musikern beider Laender. Und nun viel Spass beim Entdecken all dieses, Tschuess, Ciao und Servus, seien Sie net zueinander.

 -  In 1452,  Johann Guttenberg prints his first book, the Bible, at his workshop in Mainz, Germany.
-  in 1882, we see the birth of Hans Geiger.  He was a physicist, who invented the Geiger Counter. 

-  In 1913, we see the passing of Rudolf Diesel.  Diesel was an engineer who developed the engine that bears his name. 

-  In 1921, we the the passing of Engelbert Humperdinck in Neustrelitz Germany.  He was an opera composer.  Among his works is the opera Hansel and Gretel. 

- In 1939 a peace treaty is signed between Germany; and Andorra, ending WWI.  Andorra had not been included in the Versailles Treaty.
 
-  And in 2007, the German Woman Soccer team defeats Brazil and is for the second time world champions.

In today's show Susanne Nielsen takes you through the multi-cultural world that is the home not only of German-Americans, of Rotary Youth exchange students everywhere.              The Cultural Center for German Language invites you to its 2013 programs.

The Cultural Center offers monthly programs to its members, organizes events and group excursions to cultural venues such as museums, theaters with exhibitions, opera, music often paired with optional visits to European restaurants all in the spirit of sharing German, and German speaking heritage in a variety of cultural settings.

Shared events with other German-American organizations like the German American Society Pinellas, the German American Social Club of New Port Richey, the German American Society of Florida and the Richard Wagner Society and events from opera, classical concerts to the celebration of German folk culture and traditions during Mayfests, German Heritage fests and Oktoberfests may be found in the Cultural Center’s program.
