Es steht im Lukas 2,7 "Und sie gebar ihren ersten Sohn und wickelte ihn in Windeln und legte ihn in eine Krippe; denn sie hatten sonst keinen Raum in der Herberge".
Wann ein Kind geboren ist, schicken wir die gute Nachricht in eine Geburtsanzeige mit einer kurze Beschreibung. Wir schreiben in der Karte sein Körpergewicht und seine Länge und natürlich sein Name. Heutzutage schicken die Eltern Bilder per Email zu den Großeltern. Was mehr können wir sagen, außer wie das Kind aussieht. Wir können nichts von seinen Fähigkeiten erzählen.
Das Neue Testament berichtet uns nichts von dem Aussehen Jesu, entweder als Kind oder als Erwachsene. Die Weihnachtsgeschichte erzählt uns nur, daß er in Windeln gewickelt war, und daß er in der Krippe lag. Franz Gruber in seinem Weihnachtslied „Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht“ hat ein Bißchen Vorstellungskraft benutzt als er schrieb, „Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar, schlaf in Himmlischer Ruh.“ Vielleicht war Gruber der Vater von einem Junge oder einem Mädchen mit einem Kopf voll mit lockigen Haar. Vielleicht liebte er das Kind so viel, daß er könnte das Christkind, der Heiland, nicht ohne ähnliches Haar ahnen.
Auch der dritte Vers in Deutsch hört sich an, wie es geschrieben ist, von einem liebendemVater oder Großvater: „Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht! Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht Lieb aus deinem göttlichen Mund...“ Ein Kind lacht erstmals ein bißchen später, nicht am ersten Tag seines Lebens. Aber wenn das passiert, als Maria oder Josef mit ihm spielte, das Lachen aus seinem Mund war wie der Klang von Liebe und Freude von Gott.
Als wir uns über die Geburt eines Kindes freuen, kurz nach die Rede über seine Aussehen, seine Größe, und das Geräusch seiner Stimme, überlegen wir seine Zukunft. Was könnte dieses Kind werden? Auch wenn wir zur Weihnachten noch begeistert sind von der Idee von dem Christkind in der Krippe, auch wenn wir noch, wie Maria, alle diese Worte behalten und sie in unseren Herzen bewegen, wissen wir, daß das schönste kommt noch in der Zukunft. Wir wissen schon, was dieses Kind tun wird. Und wir wissen besonders, die schöne Zukunft, die er uns schenkt.

In diesen Tagen, Gott, stellst du uns das Größte vor Augen: Deine Liebe zu den Menschen. Du öffnest durch Christus unsere Herzen für neues Wünschen, zu tieferer Klarheit und in größere Hoffnung hinein. Mach uns bereit, ihn zu empfangen in dankbarer Verwunderung: Jesus, deinen Sohn, unsern Bruder und Herrn. Amen

Bill Davidson's Minute in German Cultural History
In 1791 we saw the passing of composer Wolfgang Mozart in Vienna. Mozart composed
14 masses, 2 oratorios, 15 operas, 56 symphonies, 71 pieces for piano, 88 pieces of chamber music, 54 concertos, and over 250 ensembles as well as 131 vocal pieces.
In 1835, Germany's first railroad between Nurnberg and Furth is opened.
In 1843, we see the birth of Robert Koch. He discovered the anthrax life cycle in 1876, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis in 1882 and the bacteria that causes cholera in 1883. He won the Nobel Prize for Medicine 1905.
In 1966, Nelly Sachs wins the Nobel Prize for Literature, which is presented on her 75th birthday.
And in 1999, Gunter Grass wins the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The Florida Orchestra (TFO) has announced that it will perform two special symphonic rock concerts this season. Founding member of Styx Dennis DeYoung and his band join forces with the orchestra for “Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx” with The Florida Orchestra on Friday, February 24, at 8 p.m. at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Acclaimed star of Billy Joel’s Broadway musical Movin’ Out Michael Cavanaugh takes center stage with the orchestra for “Michael Cavanaugh in Concert: The Music of Billy Joel and More! “ with The Florida Orchestra on Friday, May 4, at 8 p.m. at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater.
The Eagle, 107.3 FM, is the proud media sponsor of these unique concerts blending the artistry and symphonic sound of musicians of The Florida Orchestra with the music of these classic rock icons. In this concert titled “Dennis DeYoung: The Music Of Styx” with The Florida Orchestra, founding member of Styx Dennis DeYoung showcases the greatest hits spanning the 70's, 80's, and 90's with his six-member band and The Florida Orchestra. This symphonic rock spectacular includes all eight top top ten hits, including Lady, Babe, Come Sail Away, Too Much Time On My Hands, Grand Illusion, Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Suite Madame Blue, Rockin’ The Paradise and many more. As a founding member of Styx, Dennis DeYoung wrote and sang lead on seven of the band's eight top ten hits. With one of the most recognizable voices in the music world today, in addition to being a legendary singer, he is also recognized as a songwriter, keyboardist, composer and record producer with a career spanning over 40 years. DeYoung’s rock band members include Suzanne DeYoung on vocals, Tom Sharpe on drums, August Zadra on lead guitar and vocals, Jimmy Leahey on lead guitar and vocals, John Blasucci on keyboards and Craig Carter on bass and vocals.

Hailed by The New York Times as simply “amazing,” piano man and singer Michael Cavanaugh belts out such show-stopping Billy Joel classics such as Movin’ Out, Just the Way You Are, It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me, New York State of Mind, We Didn’t Start the Fire, Piano Man, My Life, You Might Be Right, Tell Her About It, She’s Got a Way, Uptown Girl and more.
Among Michael Cavanaugh’s many accolades, Variety calls him “brilliant” and Billboard Magazine calls him “The New Voice of the American Rock & Roll Songbook.” His reputation as a charismatic performer, musician and actor are due in part to his acclaimed role at both the piano and in lead vocals in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out featuring the songs of Billy Joel. In fact, Cavanaugh was handpicked by Billy Joel to star in the title role in the musical showcasing a style rivaling the Piano Man himself. Cavanaugh appeared in the show for three years in over 1,200 performances, receiving one rave review after another, which culminated in 2003 with both Grammy and Tony award nominations. His numerous engagements since cover such diverse venues as famed Las Vegas showrooms to the concert halls of the Cincinnati Pops, Indianapolis Symphony, Kansas City Symphony and Baltimore Symphony, among others.

In addition to the Special Concerts, The Florida Orchestra presents the 14-concert St. Petersburg Times Masterworks series and the 8-concert Raymond James Pops series, both of which are performed in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater. It also has three morning concert series: a 7-concert Coffee Concert series in St. Petersburg, a 3-concert Coffee Concert series in Clearwater, and a new 3-concert Progress Energy Morning Masterworks series in St. Petersburg. In addition, the orchestra performs a variety of free Pops in the Park concerts performed in parks around the Tampa Bay area, and the Youth Concerts reaching thousands of 4th and 5th graders annually.
