   In today's show Susanne Nielsen meets German photographer Herlinde Koelbel who in for over thirty years has been looking at and into the faces, living-rooms and lives of her subjects, from the German Chancelors to writers and in her latest exhibition at people in and out of their uniforms. She always gives us insights into the subjects she explores: from children to politicians, and even the theme of hair, there is always something to discover with this German artist. Whom Susanne Nielsen encountered at her summer exhibit in Bonn, Germany.

Unsere heutige Sendung gibt Einblicke in das Werk der deutschen Fotografin Herlinde Koelbl, deren Werke bereits von unserer Mitarbeiterin Renate Schauer im Hygienemuseum  in Dresden  gesehen und fuer Sie beschrieben wurde (Sendung Juni 2012).  

Die bonner Ausstellung “Spurenlese” fasst das bisherige Werk dieser interessanten Fotografin zusammen, indem es Teile ihrer Fotoserien zeigt . Darunter sind die Kinderserie aus dem fruehwerk der erst mit Ende Dreissig begonnenen Fotokarriere, eine Reihe der nun vom bonner Haus der Geschichte angekauften Portraits und Texte juedischer Portraits ( das Plakat zeigt das eindrucksvolle Gesicht einer juedischen Schriftstellerin). Weitere Serien zeigen Das Deutsche Wohnzimmer, Haare, Prominente, und Menschen in Uniform , letztere die in Dresden gezeigte Ausstellungsserie.

Frau Koelbl ist in ihrer Fotografie Autodidaktin , und beschreibt selbst ihren Werdegang im Gespraech mit Susanne Nielsen. Sie hatte keine Lehre, von der sie sich einen eigenen Weg bahnen musste, aber hierdurch auch die Aufgabe, selbst die technische Seite des Metiers selber erlernen zu muessen.

October 12, 13 and 14: Beethoven to Bernstein – Tampa Bay Times Masterworks Series
Pianist Sara Davis Buechner explores a kaleidoscope of moods from pensive to spirited jazz-laced motifs in Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, The Age of Anxiety.  The concert also includes Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Schumann’s stately yet joyous Symphony No. 3, Rhenish. Conducted by Stuart Malina. Includes a pre-concert talk about the music and the composers, in the concert hall beginning one hour prior to curtain.

October 19: The Sounds of Simon & Garfunkel
 
It’s a celebration of one of the most popular folk-rock duos of the 60s that set the tone for the times with such signature sounds as Feeling Groovy, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, I Am a Rock, Mrs. Robinson, Scarborough Fair and The Sounds of Silence, among many more favorites – all with a magical intertwining of Simon & Garfunkel style vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar and your Florida Orchestra. Lead by guest conductor Michael Krajewski.

October 20 and 21: Free Pops in the Park Concerts
 
Enjoy a picnic under the stars at a free Pops in the Park Concert with guest conductor Stuart Chafetz and The Florida Orchestra in a varied program with music by John Williams and John Phillip Sousa; selections from The Music Man, A Chorus Line and Mission Impossible; hits by Duke Ellington and a musical salute to the 1950s…all with the evening ending in Tchaikovsky’s explosive 1812 Overture.  Guests are invited to bring canned food donations for Tampa Bay Harvest's food bank services in the Tampa Bay area. The Vinoy Park concert will have a pre-concert performance from 5:45pm to 6:30pm by two finalists from VSA Florida Young Soloists Competition, who will be representing the State of Florida in the national competition in Washington, DC later this year. VSA Florida provides people with disabilities the opportunity to learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts.
