Ein Gespraech mit Miamis neuem deutschen Generalkonsul Juergen Borsch und die Ausstellung Amerika in Deutschland, in Bonn
In today’s show in honor of
the past German American and German national holidays,
Susanne Nielsen brings you a conversation she had with the new German Consul
General to Miami Jurgen (Yoorgan) Borsch (borsh) she had the opportunity to
speak with a week ago. The second part of the show takes us on a visit of the
exhibition called “Americans….at the Museum of German post-war History in Bonn,
Germany. She speaks with Mr. Hoffmann of the museum about the exhibit filled
with memorabilia from 1945 to almost present day, President Obama’s
inauguration 2008.

Heute wollen wir noch einmal Zu dem nun schon zwei Wochen zurueckliegenden deutschen und Deutschamerikanischen Feiertagen, dem 3.10 und dem 6.10.zurueckgehen, zu ersterem hatte ich mit dem neuen Deutschen Generalkonsul in Miami Juergen Borsch ein Gespraech, das waehrend eines Handelskammertreffens stattfand. Dabei kam vieles DeutschAmerikanische zur Sprache und ich kann Ihnen damit diesen Ihren neuen Ansprechpartner ab Herbst 2013 vorstellen. Danach befassen wir uns mit einer in Bonn stattfindenden Ausstellung im Haus der Geschichte. Ich sprach mit Frau beate Fritsche, die sich diese Ausstellung angesehen hat und spaeter , als ich selbst in diesem Museum der nachkriegsgeschichte war, gab mir der pressesprecher des Museums noch eine kleine Einfuehrung in das Thema. Die Ausstellung laeuft noch bis in den Februar 2014, also noch viel Zeit , sie sich selbst einmal in Bonn anzusehen.

NACHTRAG ZU DEM DEUTSCHEN UND DEUTSCH_AMERIKANISCHEN FEIERTAG
Nachtraeglich moechten wir allen Deutschen unter unseren Hoerern wuenschen, dass Sie einen besinnlichen deutschen Nationalfeiertag hatten, der ja am 3.Oktober feierlich begangen wurde und Tag der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands ist. Unseren Deutsch-Amerikanern wuenschen wir, dass sie am 6.Oktober einen schoenen German-American Day gefeiert haben, dieser von Praesident Ronald Reagan 1987 wiederbelebte Tag erinnert an die zahlreichen Beitraege Deutscher und Deutschstaemmiger zur Geschichte und Errungenschaften der USA. Ein Interview mit dem neuen General-Konsul der Bundesrepublik in Miami bringen wir Ihnen nachtraeglich zu diesem Thema, zudem hasben wir viele Ansagen zu den Florida Oktoberfesten , die unsere Stunde ausfuellen. Der German-American Day ist ein Feiertag in den Vereinigten Staaten, der jährlich am 6. Oktober begangen wird. Der Feiertag soll an das deutsche Erbe erinnern und nimmt Bezug auf den 6. Oktober 1683, als 13 deutsche Familien, die aus Krefeld in die Nähe von Philadelphia übersiedelten, dort Germantown gründeten. Hierbei handelte es sich um die erste deutsche Siedlung in den Dreizehn Kolonien. Erstmals gefeiert wurde dieser Tag im 19. Jahrhundert, aber bedingt durch den Ersten Weltkrieg und die während dieser Zeit vorherrschende anti-deutsche Stimmung in den Vereinigten Staaten starb diese Tradition aus.
Erst 1983 wurde sie wiederbelebt, als der damalige Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten, Ronald Reagan, den 6. Oktober zum German-American Day ausrief, um den 300. Jahrestag der Immigration von Deutschen und ihrer Kultur in die Vereinigten Staaten zu feiern und zu ehren. Am 6. August 1987 bewilligte der Kongress der Vereinigten Staaten eine Resolution, die den 6. Oktober 1987 zum German-American Day erklärte. Mit der Unterzeichnung durch Präsident Reagan am 18. August wurde der Tag gesetzlich verankert. Die offizielle Verkündigung fand am 2. Oktober 1987 im Rahmen einer offiziellen Zeremonie im White House Rose Garden statt, bei der Präsident Reagan die Amerikaner dazu aufrief, den Tag mit adäquaten Zeremonien und Aktivitäten zu begehen. 2, St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society, Inc. (SPIFFS) and its ethnic
member groups present the 39th Annual International Festival at Vinoy Park on
St. Petersburg’s beautiful waterfront, transforming it into a microcosm of the
world. This year’s theme is “Holiday Foods of the
World”.
In
addition to ethnic foods and cultural displays, Folk Fair offers a multitude of
special entertainment in the form of dancing, singing and drumming by more than
thirty ethnic groups. On the two school days (October 31 and November 1), Giving
Tree Music will engage groups of students in drum circles, and various student
groups will be performing on the main stage. On Saturday, November 2, the
general public will enjoy breathtaking music from Mongolia, featuring a
beautiful instrument called Horse Head Violin (Morin Khuur), Native American
drummers and dancers plus
folk music and dancing from around the world. Be sure not to miss the Grand Parade of
Nations at 2:00 pm, when members of the many SPIFFS ethnic groups will parade
around the park, led by
colorful bands, pipers and drummers. The parade will be followed by a new
citizen swearing-in ceremony. The evening closes with a performance by
Gypsy
Star, an American acoustic
rock band whose original music is flavored with a fusion of sounds and rhythms
from around the world.
Folks
dancing and music will be performed throughout the festival from two stages.
From one end of the globe to the other, you will find outstanding performances
and demonstrations from North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa, not to mention
food, cultural arts and crafts, art displays and more…....
SPIFFS is Tampa Bay’s own United
Nations and the only independent non-profit, multi-cultural folk fair
organization in the country. Folk Fair is your chance to travel the world in a day
- without leaving the country. Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity to take

Die USA in Deutschland
Vom "Land der
unbegrenzten Möglichkeiten" bis zu "Ami go home": Die USA wecken
bei uns Deutschen Emotionen und polarisieren. Die Geschichte Deutschlands nach
dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ist ohne den Einfluss der Vereinigten Staaten in vielen
Bereichen nur schwer vorstellbar. Dieser besonderen Beziehung widmet sich die
Ausstellung mit rund 1.000 Exponaten und zahlreichen Medienstationen. Anhand
der zentralen Felder Sicherheitspolitik, Wirtschaft und (Alltags-)Kultur
zeichnet sie die deutsch-amerikanischen Beziehungen von 1945 bis in die
Gegenwart nach.
Sieger und Besiegte
Der Bombenkrieg, die
Zerstörung deutscher Städte sowie die Beschlagnahmung von Gebäuden und
Industrieanlagen prägen zunächst das Amerikabild in der deutschen Bevölkerung.
Im Zeichen des Kalten Kriegs vollzieht sich aber ein Wandel in der
amerikanischen Deutschlandpolitik. Durch CARE-Pakete, Marshallplan und die
Luftbrücke nach West-Berlin gewinnen die USA Sympathien in West-Deutschland und
avancieren zur beliebten Schutzmacht.
Vorbild Amerika?
In den 1950er- und 1960er
Jahren wird der "American Way of Life" zum Vorbild für viele
Deutsche. Während Jugendliche die Musik von Bill Haley und Elvis Presley hören,
begeistern sich die Erwachsenen für Einbauküchen und Hollywoodschaukeln. Wenige
Jahre später demonstriert die Studentenbewegung gegen vermeintlichen
"US-Imperialismus" und den Krieg in Vietnam. Millionen Bundesbürger
gehen zu Beginn der 1980er Jahre auf die Straße: Sie protestieren gegen die
Stationierung neuer amerikanischer Mittelstreckenraketen.
Feindesland und Sehnsuchtsort
Auf der anderen Seite des
"Eisernen Vorhangs" betreibt das SED-Regime massive antiamerikanische
Propaganda und versucht, westliche Einflüsse auf die Bevölkerung zu
unterbinden. Dennoch sind die Vereinigten Staaten für viele Ostdeutsche
Projektionsfläche ihrer Sehnsüchte und Träume: Amerikanische Rock- und Popmusik
begeistert die Jugend in der DDR; amerikanische Konsumgüter sind begehrte Waren
und Geschenke im Land des "real existierenden Sozialismus".
Gemeinsam vor globalen Herausforderungen
Die Bedeutung der
atlantischen Partnerschaft wird bei der Wiedervereinigung deutlich: Die USA
unterstützen bereits 1989 den Einigungsprozess. Nach dem Ende des Kalten Kriegs
entstehen neue globale Probleme. Die Terroranschläge vom 11. September 2001
lösen Fassungslosigkeit aus. Die Bundesrepublik entsendet Soldaten nach Afghanistan,
um die amerikanischen Truppen im "Krieg gegen den Terror" zu
unterstützen. Aber der folgende Krieg gegen den Irak wird zur Belastungsprobe
der gemeinsamen Beziehungen. Die USA sind im Zeitalter der Globalisierung
zunehmend auch wirtschaftlicher Konkurrent, die amerikanische Bankenkrise hat
erhebliche Auswirkungen auf die Volkswirtschaften in Europa. Wie sich die
deutsch-amerikanischen Beziehungen vor dem Hintergrund der globalen
Herausforderungen weiter entwickeln werden, ist noch nicht abzusehen. Trotz
aller Verstimmungen bleibt Amerika mit seiner Musik, mit Filmen, Medien und
Produkten weiterhin im Alltag der Bundesbürger präsent.

Kino and more Kultur:
Captain Philips, ein sehr nahe an der Realitaet gedrehter Film ueber einen Tanker, der an Somali Piraten fiel. Acht Tage war Kapitaen Philips ( der heute wieder zur See faehrt) in der gewalt seiner Kidnapper, mit der dramatischen Musik Hans Zimmers genial aufbereitet, man sitzt gespannt da und "ist dabei", hautnah!
Kinderfilme regnet es heute, mal wieder Fleischbaellchen, nicht ganz so spannend wie beim erstenmal, aber das hatte ich auch schon bei Monsters Inc gesagt.
Na, was da wohl alles abgeht,wenn michael Doug;as und seine kollegen , die nun alle das rentenalter auch vom Aussehen her erreicht haben, anstellen, kann man sich denken, dass sie Spass dabei haben ist klar. Ihnen dann auch viel Spass bei diesem Film. Gesehen haben wir ihn noch nicht.
Hanna Arendt ist in den Kunstkinos vertreten, eine interessante Frau, die ihr Ziel nie aus den Augen liess, ein deutscher Film, sehenswert!
Rush, wo er Niki Lauda spielt, nun noch den fast partner des immernoch in der Botschaft von Ecuador in london lebenden Julian Assange, dem gruender von Wikileaks,
es gibt hier noch einen Dokumentarfilm "Die, die geheimnisse stehlen" zum gleichen Thema, der noch spannender sein soll. Auf Spanisch, was schoener ist als die beiden sehr deutschen Akzente, ist er in Sieben Tage Havana zu sehen: Daniel Bruehl!

Acht Tage war Kapitaen Philips ( der heute wieder zur See faehrt) in der gewalt seiner Kidnapper, mit der dramatischen Musik Hans Zimmers genial aufbereitet, man sitzt gespannt da und "ist dabei", hautnah!
Kinderfilme regnet es heute, mal wieder Fleischbaellchen, nicht ganz so spannend wie beim erstenmal, aber das hatte ich auch schon bei Monsters Inc gesagt.
Na, was da wohl alles abgeht,wenn michael Doug;as und seine kollegen , die nun alle das rentenalter auch vom Aussehen her erreicht haben, anstellen, kann man sich denken, dass sie Spass dabei haben ist klar. Ihnen dann auch viel Spass bei diesem Film. Gesehen haben wir ihn noch nicht.
Hanna Arendt ist in den Kunstkinos vertreten, eine interessante Frau, die ihr Ziel nie aus den Augen liess, ein deutscher Film, sehenswert!
Rush, wo er Niki Lauda spielt, nun noch den fast partner des immernoch in der Botschaft von Ecuador in london lebenden Julian Assange, dem gruender von Wikileaks,
es gibt hier noch einen Dokumentarfilm "Die, die geheimnisse stehlen" zum gleichen Thema, der noch spannender sein soll. Auf Spanisch, was schoener ist als die beiden sehr deutschen Akzente, ist er in Sieben Tage Havana zu sehen: Daniel Bruehl!

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Florida Orchestra opens the 2013/2014 season with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, world-class cirque artists, a Beatles tribute, two free park concerts and much more.
October 19 and 20: Pops in the Park
Pack a picnic dinner and listen to a lively mix of familiar classics and popular favorites under the stars at these free concerts. Concertgoers are invited to bring canned food donations for Tampa Bay Harvest for their food bank services in the Tampa Bay area.

Back by popular demand, Cirque de la Symphonie returns with a breathtaking variety of seemingly impossible acts by some of the world’s premiere cirque artists.
