Opernplausch mit Star der Sarasota Opera, Hak Soo Kim
In today’s show Susanne Nielsen has an interesting conversation with Hak Soo ( Hah-k Sue - )Kim, the young Korean tenor who sings the role of Edoardo Sanval, a young officer in the opera A King for a Day. This Veri ( ver-dee) opera premieres March 2nd at the Sarasota opera as the season’s third opera. This weekend Bizet’s Pearl Fishers opens and against the backdrop of the dress rehearsal of Pearl Fishers Susanne Nielsen learned all about the life and carrier of Hak Soo Kim. He learned German in boarding school in the US, then spent some time in Berlin and Tuebingen , Germany. His dream is to sing the role of Tamino in Mozart’s Magic Flute. Since this is his third time at the Sarasota opera, perhaps he will sing here in this role some time in the future. See him in King for a Day where he plays as always, a young lover! Der Koreanisch-amerikanische Tenor HaK Soo Kim gastiert in
dieser Saison wieder an Sarasota Opera
in West Florida. Vor kurzem hat er ein
zweites Jahr als Domingo-Thornton Young Artist an der LA Opera sein Debüt als Remendado in der Oper Carmen gegeben.
Im Jahr davor, seiner Debüt-Saison in LA Opera, sang er die Rolle des ersten Priesters in Mozarts
Zauberflöte und Gastone in Verdis La Traviata wo er zudem die zweite Besetzung fuer die Rolle des
Alfredo war.
In seiner zweiten Saison stellte er den Conte Almaviva in
der studentischen Matinee des Barbiers von Sevilla dar und den “ Jugendlichen”
in der amerikanischen Premiere von Schrekers Die Gezeichneten unter der Leitung von James Conlon. Er war die
zweite Besetzung der Rolle des Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore zu Beginn der Saison.
Kim schloss sein Studium an der Northwestern University mit einem BA in
Deutsch ab und schrieb seine
Diplomarbeit an der Eberhard-Karls-Universität
in Tübingen, Deutschland. Sein Thema: Die Deutsche Literatur nach der Wieder-Vereinigung
. Während seines Studiums an der
Northwestern University sang er Fenton
in Falstaff und Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi. Als Mitglied des Opera
Colorado Outreach Ensembles spielte er
die Rolle des Ernesto in Don Pasquale und Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola. Darüber
hinaus sang er beim “Apprentice Singer Konzert” an der Santa Fe Opera Matteo
in Arabella und Lysander in Ein Sommernachtstraum .
Als Konzertsänger , gab er sein Ravinia Festival-Debüt an
der Borsa in Rigoletto mit dem Chicagoer Symphony Orchestra, sang in einem
Zarzuela-Konzert unter der Leitung von Plácido Domingo, und war der Tenor
Solist zusammen mit dem Monmouth Staedischen Chor in Strawinskys Les Noces.
Kim erhielt bereits zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und Stipendien,
darunter die Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions,
The Loren L. Zachary Nationalen Gesangswettbewerb, Opera Buffs und Pasadena
Opera Guild . Er ist ein Schüler von Dr. Julian Kwok.

The 21st German Heritage Day
weekend event of the United German-American Society of Florida
will take place on
Saturday March 23 and Sunday, March 24, 2013,
at the American German Club of the Palm Beaches in Lantana, Florida.
The HEIMATABEND event on Saturday is a German Cultural Evening commencing at 6 p.m. Admission is $32 for members; $37 for non-members which includes dinner and two drink tickets. The Alpine Express Band will be playing for everyone’s enjoyment.
On Sunday doors will open at 11:00 a.m. Ticket prices of $27 for members and $32 for non-members which include dinner to be served starting at noon; the planned entertainment, including the Parade of Flags will commence at 1 p.m. Entertainment will include a band for your dancing pleasure; the Florida Schuhplattler groups will show off their talents, and the combined choruses from various clubs will perform several well-known numbers.
The admittance ticket will be the key to someone winning two grand prizes. Package weekend deals including the hotel are available.

Interview Hak Soo Kim, Sarasota Opera...
Vor wenigen Tagen hatte ich die Gelegenheit,den charmanten Amerikaner Koreanischen Ursprungs Hak Soo Kim zu seinem Leben und seiner karriere als Tenor zu befragen. Wir sassen im schoenen Sarasota Opernhaus im dritten Stock und hoerten die vielen Opernstimmen aus Bizets Perlenfischer ( Pearl Fishers), der Oper, die in Sri Lanka spielt, im Hintergrund, da gerade die letzte Probe, naemlich Kostuemprobe im grossen Saal stattfand. Hinterher ging ich noch einmal durch den Buehnenausgang, begegnete allerhand gold und rot gekleideten Chor und Opernsaengern, die von einer zierlichen Opernhauskraft meuhelos aufgerufen und geleitet wurden, einer von vielen Arbeiten, die einem Publikum nie auffallen wuerden, da eben alles hinter den Kulissen auch wie am Schnuerlichen funktionieren muss.
Das Gespraech mit Hak Soo Kim drehte sich um seinen eher unkonventionellen Sprung vom Wirtschaftsstudium zu Deutsch und dann doch einer Opernkarriere dank eines Professors der Politischen Wissenschaften, denn so dieser: Sein Talent darf man nicht verschwenden.

Wir bedanken uns noch einmal fuer das Gespraech und wuenschen Ihnen, dass Sie sowohl Turandot, wie auch King for a Day, in dem Hak Soo Kim einen jungen Liebhaber spielt, und Pearl Fishers mit seinem traumhaft schoenen Buehnenbild in Gruen, das eine Tempelruine zeight, bald besuchen. Oper vom Feinsten, und Stimmen , die kraftvoll und lyrisch zugleich die geschichte von Liebe und Trauer, von wieder gewonnenen Traeumen erzaehlt. Das Duett der beiden Hauptfiguren, Tenor und Barriton, gehoert zu den schoensten aller Opern ueberhaupt.

Bei Beutiful Creatures geht es um Sterblich-unsterbliche Liebe und auch in Warm Bodies geht es um Liebe , aber hierbei sind Leichen als Zombies unterwegs.
Silver Linings Playbook immernoch sehenswert, und auch Beasts of the Southern Wild, muss man noch vor den Oscars gesehen haben.

Was ist eine Doline?
Sink hole genannt, kann eine solche Doline daran schuld sein, dass an Ihrem haus und allen beton gegossenen Wegen Risse und sogar Loecher entstehen, die bei ganz grossen Einbruehcen des bodens ganze autos verschlucken, meist aber muss man beweisen,dass ein solchen loch durch gesteinseinbruch unter dem haus oder boden dazu gefuehrt haben. Die gegend um Spring Hill in der Tampa Bucht ist fuer solche Erdeinbrueche bekannt, aber welcher Kaeufer aus dem Ausland vermutet solche unangenehmen moeglichen Schaeden. Man moege sich erkundigen und vor allem versichern, damit bei schaeden, man die Reparatur gut gemacht bekommt, beton wird gegossen und damit das loch repariert, man ist wieder auf sicherem Boden.
